Zuri eyes UK market for luxury properties
2/17/2010 3:42:00 PM
Luxury hospitality specialist, Zuri Hotels & Resorts, is planning a marketing offensive in the UK where it hopes to showcase its portfolio of top-end properties.
The India-based group (Bangalore), which owns and manages is current portfolio but also offers hotel management services, boasts a diverse range of properties in India, Africa and the UK.
Those most relevant to the UK market are The Zuri Varca, White Sands Resort & Casino, Goa; The Retreat by Zuri, Goa – suited to family holidays, business meetings, incentives and conferences; the Zuri Kumarakom Resort & Spa, Kerala and The Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa in Mombassa, Kenya – both suited to high-end FITs; plus The Liner at Liverpool, which caters well to the local corporate and MICE markets.
Other properties in the portfolio include The Zuri Whitefield, Bengaluru - a five-star business hotel in busy Bangalore.
“We want to focus on promoting our properties in the UK market,” Zuri Hotels & Resorts Managing Director Aditya (Bobby) Kamani told Travel Daily UK.
“Kenya is particularly popular with discerning UK travellers and the flights to Mombassa and India are improving all the time.”
Many of the Middle East carriers including Emirates Airline and Qatar Airways (which flies directly from Doha to Goa) were helping drive demand, he added.
Kamani is currently either approaching or working with, all of the UK’s major tour operators – both vertical and independent – in a bid to get his properties brochured.
The company will also be attending key trade shows such as ITB Berlin, WTM, ILTM and ALTM.
“Our first goal is to be well recognised by the UK travel trade,” said Kamani.
He believed “the jewel in the crown” as far as this market was concerned, was the

The resort, which looks out into the Indian Ocean, recently acquired a five-star deluxe classification and is home to Zuri’s Maya Spa brand.
This, claims Kamani, is the first of its kind in East Africa, specialising in Ayurvedic, Oriental and Western therapies.
Additional facilities include an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, night-club, casino and cinema theatres plus eight F&B outlets.
