Etihad signs codeshare agreement with American Airlines

3/17/2010 10:20:00 AM

Etihad Airways has announced today its first codeshare agreement outside of Pakistan with American Airlines. The operation starts on 18 March and will provide Pakistani travellers with connections between Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore to US destinations such as Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Miami and Houston. “The US is a key market for Etihad and a popular destination for many of our customers in Pakistan. Etihad has seen substantial growth to and from the US over the past few years and we are committed to strengthening the ties between the Pakistan and US markets through this new codeshare,” said Etihad Airways Chief Commercial Officer Peter Baumgartner. Passengers transferring between the two carriers will be able to purchase a single ticket for their journey and check in luggage through to their final destination. Etihad currently uses its ‘EY’ code on a number of transatlantic services operated by American Airlines between Europe and the US as well as some domestic services. The ‘AA’ code will be used on Etihad services from Kuwait City, with the ‘EY’ code on American Airlines flights to Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis via Chicago.
