Staying in Paris: A Guide

Are you thinking about booking your next holiday to Paris but want to make sure you find the best place to stay? Sometimes the hotel you choose can make or break your trip. That is why you should find hotels in Paris that are comfortable and not too expensive. Also, you can make sure you are nearest to all the best attractions when arranging accommodation.

Many get tempted to book straight away, with daydreams of romantic restaurants, coffee houses, parks and the appeal of the Parisian ambience, but before you get carried away, do some research to make sure you stay at a great Paris hotel. There are certain factors everyone should take into consideration before booking.

First, consider what area of the city you would like to stay in. Paris is separated into different districts as well as inner and outer suburbs; this will influence the price of the place you stay and also the travel involved to get to popular attractions.

Hotels located in the centre of the city will typically be pricier since they are closest to the sights. However, if you are willing to pay a little more, it may be worth it to be a stone’s throw away from famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower.

Get out your map of the city and think about where you will want to go during your stay; since Paris's size is 35 sq m you definitely can’t walk everywhere you want to go. However, the metro station is conveniently located next to most popular attractions, making it easy to jump from place to place.

Many people choose Paris hotels that are close to the metro so that they can always get back to their hotel easily. This will save a lot of extra fees such as booking a cab or the stress of having to walk distances when feeling tired.

Orient accommodation around the type of attractions you would like to see. If you enjoy visiting museums then locate yourself near the most famous museum, The Louvre. The museum houses the world’s largest collection of pre-20th century art.

To make your stay more romantic, consider a hotel that has a view. Many hotels offer stunning views of famous landmarks such as the famous Eiffel tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees.

Besides placing yourself in the best location, being happy with your Paris hotel also involves getting a cheap price. Don’t assume hotel prices are fixed even if they appear high; often, hotels will offer special deals online. If you are lucky enough to find a great promotion then you can often pay half the price.

If you are flexible regarding when you travel to Paris, then you can save yourself money by planning your trip during the off peak winter months. However, if you are willing to bundle up, Paris can be a wonderful holiday retreat. Imagine warming up in coffee shops while enjoying the local cheese and pastries.

After you have found a bunch of affordable hotels with interesting locations, it is useful to make a list of all your options. Do further research on each hotel to see what other people have said about their stay. Sometimes your decisions will come down to price or the fact that you know one is located next to a restaurant your friend has recommended.

If you aren’t interested in a Parisian holiday, then the same approach in finding a great hotel can be done for other destinations nearby like hotels in London. If you are planning a holiday in the UK capital, book accommodation close to different tube stations and interesting pubs!

Any history buff visiting London will appreciate that London museums are all in walking distance to each other. Consider a hotel in the west end near the British Museum, National Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum and Natural History Museum. Or maybe you fancy a hotel room with a view of the Tower of London or the London Eye?

The best hotels are located in areas that you find most enriching. If you are willing to put time into researching the hotspots in every city as well as general hotel prices then you will easily find the best hotels in every city.
