Estonia, Finland and Iceland host first joint travel trade Workshop

1/11/2010 5:37:00 PM

The tourist boards of Finland, Iceland and Estonia are holding their first joint travel trade Workshop on 10th February 2010, which will take place at the HAC Armoury House in City Road, London. Representatives from UK tour operators, travel and incentive agencies, airlines and tour organisers are invited to attend to meet providers of accommodation, transport/tours, attractions, destination management companies and regional and city tourist offices from each of the three countries. Attendees will have the opportunity to pre-arrange individual 15 minute meetings with the overseas suppliers and to network with tourism partners from the three nations. A working lunch is provided and the event will take place at the historic 18th Century HAC Armoury, set in six acres of garden in the city of London, close to Moorgate tube station. Riitta Balzar, from Visit Finland, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for representatives from UK travel companies to optimise their time by meeting tourism providers from Iceland, Finland and Estonia during the same event. We’ve had an excellent response and the event is being supported by representatives from nearly 50 organisations.” Sigga Gróa from the Icelandic Tourist Board added: “Our nations offer complementary products and it makes sense for visitors to use this as an opportunity to network with existing contacts from one nation and meet up with new tourism providers from another. We really anticipate a great response from the UK travel industry and anticipate this will become an annual event.” The Estonia Tourist Board, which recently appointed its first UK representative, Mary Stuart-Miller, will be represented at the event, as will Tallinn City, one of 2010’s European Capitals of Culture. Mary Stuart-Miller said: “This will be a really useful day out as it provides an opportunity to meet travel providers from three nations under one roof, without having to get on a plane.” The first Estonia, Finland and Iceland Workshop will take place on 10th February 2010, from 10am – 5pm at HAC, Armoury House, City Road, London EC1Y 2BQ (http://www.hac.org.uk/) Closest Tube: Old Street, Closest mainline stations: Old Street, Liverpool Street and Moorgate To attend the event contact Sigga Groa siggagroa@icetourist
