Iberostar Hotels plots expansion course for 2010

IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to continue its international expansion and regeneration programmes in 2010 with the recent opening of a new hotel in Cape Verde, three new hotels which are set to open in Tunisia, and a €50 million investment to upgrade three existing Spanish properties. The announcement comes as the group released figures from 2009, which ended with a turnover of €810 million and nine new hotels. The company’s current portfolio consists of 104 hotels and 22,000 employees worldwide.
In addition, IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts will continue to invest in its luxury real estate division, IBEROSTATE, which launched in 2008 and currently has developments in Brazil and Dominican Republic. The latest development, in Mexico, is set to launch during the first quarter of 2010 with an inventory of apartments and villas.
New openings and refurbishments for 2010
Over the next twelve months, the company plans to increase its presence in countries where it already operates, in particular Spain and Tunisia, where the group opened the IBEROSTAR Club Boa Vista, its first Cape Verde property just last month. These new openings demonstrate IBEROSTAR’s expertise in identifying emerging markets and providing its guests with quality accommodation in the most desirable holiday destinations.

IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts has also expanded its luxury line, The Grand Collection, with the introduction of the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Salomé, a stunning luxury five-star boutique hotel situated within the grounds of hotel IBEROSTAR Anthelia which is located by the in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. The Grand Collection provides discerning travellers with the utmost luxury and comfort and consists of seven unique properties located in Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Brazil and Spain.
Furthermore, the company is considering entering into the urban hotel sector either through the acquisition of an existing hotel chain or by the addition of new properties.
